Wound badge in silver. Unmarked, albeit typical Steinhauer & Lück, Lüdenscheid manufacturing.
Zinc base with integral set up. Good condition. Small zinc corrosion on the averse of the badge.
Much of the silver finish is gone.

Instituted (re-instituted) on September 1, 1939. The badge had three grades - black, silver, and gold. The badge was only awarded to military personnel, until in March 1943 civilians that were wounded in air raids also became eligible. The wound badge in silver was awarded for three or four wounds, as well as for more serious wounds, i. e. loss of hearing, a hand, a foot, an eye, facial disfigurement, or brain damage.
