Excellent condition German M38 Luftschutz 'Gladiator' style one-piece helmet. Complete with liner and chinstrap. Uncleaned. The helmet shows no wear and was most probably never issued. Almost all of the original dark blue finish is present. The Luftschutz winged swastika is incredibly well preserved with minor toning. The interior of the helmet is in excellent condition. The liner is in good condition with only improper storage damage to the edge of the liner and the liner string missing. The black leather chin strap, often missing, is still in place, complete and intact. The rear inner skirt is stamped RL2-39/25 indicating manufacture by Eisenhüttenwerk Thale, Thale (Harz). The original decal on the rear skirt confirms that the helmet meets Luftschutz regulations. Also, the helmet size is shown on the decal as '57', and the highest authorized sale price of the helmet is indicated as 8,50 Reichsmarks. 

The Luftshutz helmets were worn by air raid wardens and teams, tasked with extinguishing fires and rescuing survivors after the air raids.
