Norwegian Frontkjemper badge miniature stickpin.
A miniature of an iconic badge, issued to Norwegian volunteers who fought on the eastern front.
Textbook example, produced in silver, marked 830S (indicating silver content).

Instituted in October 1943, by Vidkun Quisling, leader of the Norwegian collaborationist government during World War II, the Norwegian Frontkjemper badge was awarded for bravery to Waffen-SS Norwegian legionnaires and German cadre who saw action on the Eastern Front. The original badge was designed by Norwegian illustrator and Nasjonal Samling member Harald Damsleth. The badge shows a Nordic warrior holding a shield and drawn sword, standing in an archway, which bore the stylised lettering 'FRONTKJEMPER' (Front Fighter). It is thought that less than 1000 of these badges were ever made.
