Latvian SS legionnaire full-height photo, letter, and an envelope. The letter is dated May 17, 1944. A soldier writes about his service in the Eastern Front, everyday duties, homesickness, etc. The date on the envelope is 1943, however. Evidently the letter was posted in a different envelope. Nevertheless, a photo came together and from the same place with the letter and an envelope, therefore we assume the whole lot belonged to the same person. An envelope was posted via SS field post to Latvia from Lithuania, as indicated in the lower-left corner of the envelope.
