Photo album of 8920 U.S. Army Latvian Labor Service company "Viesturs", marking the 2nd anniversary of the creation of the companies on June 27, 1946, performing guarding duties in Nürnberg. The album bears a picture of the insignia of the Latvian Labor Service companies on the front cover. The album is addressed to Capt. James R. Harty, most probably made by the company men for their commander.
An album is composed of 28 photos (approx. 10.3 x 7.1 cm each), depicting liaison officers and company commanders, company men during their duties, photos of the Service headquarters, etc. Insignia of the Latvian Labor Service companies are clearly seen on the uniforms. Photos are marked with the stamp of Camp Valka, Nuremberg (Germany). All the photos come off the album pages due to the age and most probably the low quality of the glue they were glued by. None of the photos are damaged, however, and each bears little remains of glue.
Additionally to the album itself, the set also includes an Invitation to Mrs. and Capt. James R. Harty to the Opening of the Latvian Handicraft Exhibition in Heidelberg, on February 24, 1949.
Very good condition. An album measures approx. 31.2 x 20.2 x 2.0 cm in dimensions.
