Wound badge in silver by Wilhelm Deumer, Lüdenscheid. Maker marked on the reverse with the LDO code 'L/11'.

Zinc base with soldered on set-up. The catch is slightly bent. Otherwise good condition.

Instituted (re-instituted) on September 1, 1939. The badge had three grades - black, silver, and gold. The badge was only awarded to military personnel, until in March 1943 civilians that were wounded in air raids also became eligible. The wound badge in silver was awarded for three or four wounds, as well as for more serious wounds, i. e. loss of hearing, a hand, a foot, an eye, facial disfigurement, or brain damage.
